Tesamorelin is a stabilized 44-amino-acid analog of growth-hormone-releasing hormone. It is FDA-approved as the finished drug Egrifta for a specific HIV-related condition; peptide sold as a research chemical is not the approved finished drug product.
Tesamorelin is an N-terminally modified GHRH(1-44) analog (3-hexenoyl group); on-file CAS 218949-48-5 matches PubChem.
Regulatory status: Tesamorelin (Egrifta) was FDA-approved on November 10, 2010 to reduce excess abdominal fat in HIV-infected patients with lipodystrophy, and a newer concentrated formulation (Egrifta WR/SV) has since been approved; other uses remain investigational.
